Remote Island Minigrid for Private Client in the Bahamas
Bock Cay is a privately owned Caribbean Island with a high penetration solar/wind/diesel system installed. The owner’s wish is to minimize and eliminate all diesel powered systems from the island. An arrray of wind turbines and solar PV have been distributed across the island and present a complex control challenge. The AC grid is also split into two separate feeder networks. A sophisticated data analysis SCADA system was uniquely developed for the project.
The total diesel generation is 600kW and total solar and wind is 800kW. In order to maximize the penetration the total battery is 8 MWh of lead acid batteries.
